Overview
About this park
A sandy-beach natural area on the Willamette River just south of the Sellwood Bridge, donated during the Depression by furniture magnate Ira Powers and his real estate associates.
Fishing and launching paddle craft are allowed from the riverbank.
On site
Amenities & facilities
Unpaved trails and picnic tables line the strip of land between Macadam Avenue and the river, and the Willamette Greenway Trail passes through on its way between downtown and Sellwood.
Background
History & notes
The park was named after Ira Powers, owner of Powers Furniture Company, who lived in Dunthorpe. Around the time of the Depression, he and other real estate associates gave this strip of land between Macadam Ave and the Willamette River to the City for the extension of Terwilliger Blvd past what is now Tryon Creek State Park.
