Overview

About this park

Scheffel-Thurston Park is a quarter-block park at 380 North 3rd Street, at the corner of North 3rd and West E Streets. Shade trees, a walking path, and benches fill the lot.

Local youth later restored it, and volunteers help maintain it.

Background

History & notes

In the 1850s the land was a corral. The Scheffel and Thurston families landscaped it in the 1960s, and Mayor Frank Carter named the park in 1962.
